Forgotten Korean Plants (2006) I have visited the thirteen famous botanical gardens in search of Korean plants that have been forgotten. There, I met many of our plants that were taken away from their homeland without the permission of their owners - in both their beautiful authentic and developed forms. Pursuant to the Convention on Biological Diversity, one who developed new species can obtain a patent right on the developed species and that patent right will be legally protected. Even if the species originated from Korea, the original owners would have no claim on the developed species. Unfortunately, we are bringing our own plants, which had once been forgotten, back to our country and paying a large sum of royalties to those outside the country that have patent rights on Korean plants they developed. This Twelfth Photography Calendar contains our Korean plants that are beloved outside Korea. We cannot own our plants without appreciating them. |
