한국의 야생난초 (2005) 빠르게 변화하는 환경 속에서 소중하고 아름다운 우리의 식물자원들이 점차 설땅을 잃고 사라져 가는 것이 오늘의 현실입니다. 어여뿐 꽃들 중에서 가장 진화되었다는 야생난만 해도 화단이나 식물원에 옮겨 심으면 몇 년을 못가서 죽고 맙니다. 그래서 옛 사람들은 도망 다니는 꽃이라고도 했습니다. 현대 과학이 밝히지 못하는 난의 뿌리와 기생균의 공생관계, 세계적인 학자들도 지금까지 난과 함께하는 박테리아와 난과의 숙제를 해결하지 못하고 있습니다. 이러한 야생난을 관찰하다 보면 난이 살아갈 수 있는 환경의 중요성을 더욱 절실하게 깨닫게 됩니다. 이 땅의 식물들이 더 이상 사라지지 않도록, 여러 이웃들이 힘과 마음을 보태는 계기가 되기를 바라며, 야생난을 주제로 한 저의 11번째 사진집을 펴냈니다. Korean Wild Orchids (2005) Sadly, Korean plant resources are losing ground in the fast moving modern society. Wild orchids, which are believed to be one of the most evolved flowers, do not survive for many years after planting outside. They used to be referred to as fleeing flowers. The communal relationship between the orchid roots and parasites has not been fully discovered by modern science. Maintaining the environment in which wild orchids can survive is very important. I hope that the Eleventh Photography Calendar with the theme of Korean wild orchids will support our interest and movement to manage our environment for wild orchids.
