한국 특산 식물 (2000) 그동안 무심코 지나쳤던 이 들꽃들을 눈여겨 보아야 하는 시대가 되었습니다. 자연 생태계가 파괴되면서 멸종위기를 맞아 사라지는 식물의 숫자가 늘어나고 있기 때문입니다. 계절따라 피고 지는 수많은 식물 중에서 유일하게 우리나라에서만 자라는 식물들을 우리는 한국특산식물이라고 부릅니다. 이들 한국특산식물은 우리의 터전에서 수천만년 동안 진화과정을 거치면서 뿌리 내려 살고 있는 풀과 나무들입니다. 따라서 우리에게는 당연히 이들을 지켜내고 영원히 보존해야 하는 의무가 있습니다. 우리가 행여 소홀하게 다루어 우리 땅에서 사라진다면 그것은 곧 이 지구상에서 영원히 사라짐을 의미합니다. 이제 세계는 종다양성과 그것이 가진 유전자적 잠재력에 눈을 돌리고 있습니다. 그런 점에서 한국특산식물은 천혜의 자원으로 아끼고 지켜나가야 할 우리의 재산이라 하겠습니다. 이땅의 풀꽃에 대해 불꽃같은 사랑이 생기길 바라는 마음에서 2000년도 사진집에서는 한국특산식물 31가지와 우리토종25종으로 꾸몄습니다. Endemic Korean Plants (2000) Korean endemic plants refer to those that grow only in Korea. These endemic Korean plants have lived with us after many evolutions. It is our duty to protect and preserve them in the land to which they belong. If we lose them, they will be forgotten forever on the earth. The world is realizing the importance of diverse species and their genetic potential. As such, Korean endemic plants are our natural resources that we have to take care of. Hoping for the enthusiastic protection of our plants, I included 56 Korean endemic plants in the 2000 Calendar.
